Nickels & Dimes

"The greatest form of giving is anonymous to anonymous." That's one of my favorite Jay-Z lines. I love it so much because it's true. The act of giving is great in itself, but to do it when no one is watching, when it's between only you and the beneficiary, that's when giving is at it's purest. You'll never hear me talk about acts of kindness(I'm fine with you judging me solely on my social media rants), because I don't do those kinds of things for recognition. That's what the jokes and the radio shows are for. Giving comes from the heart. Helping is supposed to be a sincere act. I can't understand for the life of me why people go out of their way to tell others that they're giving or helping people less fortunate. What's the purpose of broadcasting it? Only thing I can think of is that they want attention for it, and that totally defeats the purpose of helping others. It takes away the sincerity. it almost looks fake to me whenever I see a social media post of someone giving money or food to a homeless person. It seems phony when people make posts bragging about how much they've donated when a disaster strikes. Just help!! there's no need to make a big scene. there's no need to make a snap video or an IG story about it. Just do it. Give. Help. Show love. It doesn't always have to be monetary either. Just do your part to make this world better, without looking for a pat on the back or an "atta boy!" Do it because it's the right thing to do. Do it because you would want someone to do the same for you. Do it because you're a human being, and not a piece of shit. There's people out here that need help. Let's help them, without exploiting their hardships or shining the light on us for likes, views, complimentary comments, and compensation. Have a heart. Help someone today.
